Hope in Action for Women & Girls is a grassroots, women-led Ethiopian organization established in early 2025 as a locally rooted nonprofit dedicated to supporting women and girls facing social and economic barriers.
Founded by an Ethiopian woman with firsthand experience working alongside women and girls in vulnerable circumstances, the organization is grounded in local realities and lived experience. This foundation enables us to design programs that are culturally relevant, practical, and centered on the needs and voices of women and girls.
As a locally founded and locally led organization, we work hand-in-hand with communities to ensure that women and girls have the support, opportunities, and confidence to participate in their own growth and in the social and economic development of their families and communities.
Through integrated programs in education, health, and economic empowerment, we strengthen resilience, expand opportunities, and promote gender-responsive development — leading to sustainable and transformative change.

Our leadership team is composed of Ethiopian women who understand the cultural, social, and community realities of the women and girls we serve. This lived experience enables us to design programs that are practical, relevant, and deeply connected to local needs.
With previous experience working in the sector, we combine professional expertise with first-hand understanding of the context. This helps us build trust, engage communities effectively, and ensure that our programs are meaningful, culturally appropriate, and deeply connected to the local needs.
As a locally rooted organization, our presence ensures both sustainability and continuity. We stay engaged long after projects end and continue supporting communities as they grow, adapt, and strengthen their capacities over time.
